About Oklahoma Chamber Symphony
The Oklahoma Chamber Symphony is a civic chamber orchestra based in Oklahoma City. Founded in January of 2019, the name is intended to convey the size of an ensemble that allows for the intimate, refined sound of a chamber orchestra, with the depth and richness of a full symphony orchestra. The size of the orchestra is determined by the selected concert repertoire, but the orchestra maintains a core membership of 38 musicians. The Oklahoma Chamber Symphony’s repertoire ranges from traditional chamber orchestra repertoire, to world premieres. Occasionally, the Oklahoma Chamber Symphony will work with supplementary musicians to perform larger scale works. The Oklahoma Chamber Symphony is a 501c3 non-profit organization, dedicated to building a strong arts presence in Oklahoma.
Revolutionizing Classical Music
Through exciting and innovative performances, an entertaining, educational, and enriching concert experience is created. In order to make classical music accessible to all, regardless of financial contribution, all of our performances are presented free of admission.
Doing Good, Through Music
Oklahoma Chamber Symphony has addressed many social issues through music. Examples include commemorating the centennial of the Tulsa Race Massacre by commissioning and giving the world premiere of Clint Williams’ Greenwood, Archer & Pine, raising funding for Ukrainian Aid during the 2022 Russian Invasion of Ukraine, raising awareness of underrepresented composers, including African American composers as part of the Norman Public Library’s annual Crowns Tea event, celebrating Black History Month, and more.
Mission of the Oklahoma Chamber Symphony
The mission of the Oklahoma Chamber Symphony Association is to promote classical music in the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area by providing free, educational, and entertaining concerts.
